Millionaire at 16! Teenager Shows Why Dreaming Young Pays Off

A 16-year-old girl from Cavite won the hearts of netizens for her success story as an online seller.

While some teenagers kept their hands busy with video games, Micah Irish Oloris had her attention focused on earning money as a high school student.

Oloris, a Grade 10 student, was featured in GMA morning show Unang Hirit where she was asked about how she became a millionaire in one year.

The teenager started selling beauty products at the age of 15 and in just one year, she became a certified billionaire.

Aside from keeping her eyes on the prize, which is to become financially stable, Oloris said she is lucky to have a mom who supported her business.

“Kasama ko po si Mama sa lahat ng pag-start, pati pag-travel ko po. Sinupport po ako at ginuide niya po ako sa lahat,” she told Unang Hirit on June of this year.

(My mom was with me from the beginning, even when I had to travel. She supported me and guided me in everything.)

Micah was surrounded by someone who is capable of helping her grow. Her mom, Irene, is a businesswoman. She runs a spa and also dabbles in online selling.

“Kasi siyempre at her age, iyan yung tipong ano, kinikilig-kilig muna sa mga crush, di ba?” Irene said.

“Parang do’n mula sila mas nakaka-focus. Nakita ko kasi na nagkakaroon yung mga kabataan ngayon ng… yung medyo anxiety, depression. So, iniba ko yung focus niya at in-introduce ko sa kanya yung business.”

(Most people her age focus on love life or infatuation, right? They are mostly focused on that. And then there’s also cases where some teenagers experience anxiety and depression. So, I changed her focus and started introducing her to business.)

Irene added that Micah has been coming with her in her business transactions ever since she was a kid, the reason why doing business was not that hard for the teenager.

The older Oloris advised parents to help their children have a better mindset when it comes to the future.

As for Mica, the advice she gave to teenagers like her is this:

“Dream at a very young age po kasi wala naman pong limit iyan sa lahat, e. Mas maganda po yung mag-start ka nang maliit hanggang mag-dream ka po nang malaki para may ma-ano na rin po sa future.”

(Dream at a very young age because there’s no limit on everything. It is better if you start small, then dream about something bigger for your future).

Micah is just getting started. Now that she became a millionaire, she used her first millions to buy a property in Zambales and saved the other amount for college.

Micah showed that age really does not matter.
